Windows95 Dial-Up Networking Configuration
Step 1: Eliminating other WINSOCK.DLL files
1. Click

2. Click Find.
3. Select Files or Folders.
4. Type WINSOCK.DLL in the "Named:" Box.
5. Make sure "Look In" is set to c:\.
6. Click Find Now.

The Microsoft WINSOCK.DLL is in the \WINDOWS\ Directory. All other WINSOCK.DLL files should be renamed to WINSOCK.OLD by clicking on the filename and selecting Rename from the File pull-down menu.
| Note: If you have more than one drive (such as d:\, e:\ and so on), repeat Step 1 for each drive. |

Step 2: Making Sure Dial-Up Networking is installed
1. Click
.
2. Select "Settings".
3. Select "Control Panel".
4. Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
5. Select the "Windows Setup" tab.
6. Single-click "Communications", then press "Details".
7. Verify that the "Dial-Up Networking" item is checked. If it isn't, check it and click "OK" (You may be prompted for your Windows95 Disks or CD-ROM).
Step 3: Making sure the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP protocol are installed
1. Click

2. Select "Settings".
3. Select "Control Panel".
4. Double-click the "Network" icon.
5. Verify that theis present.
| If it isn't... Click Add Double-click "Adapter" Scroll down the list and select "Microsoft" Choose "Dial-Up Adapter" and click "OK" (You may be prompted for your Windows95 Disks or CD-ROM). |

6. Verify the
Protocol is present.

7. Click "OK" until you are asked to restart the system, and then restart.
Step 4: Setting up the connection
1. Double-click the "My Computer" Icon.
2. Double-click the "Dial-Up Networking" Icon.
3. "Make New Connection" may open automatically, if it doesn't, double-click on Make New Connection.
4. Type in "Romanweb" for the name of the computer you are dialing.
| Note: Your modem should already be displayed. If it isn't, consult your Windows95 documentation for information on how to set up your modem for use with Windows95. |
5. Click "Next".
6. Type in the phone number for your dial-in connection (Consult your Romanweb configuration sheet for the correct phone number to enter).
7. Click "Next", then "Finish".
8. Single-click the new Romanweb Icon with the RIGHT mouse button, and select Properties.
9. In the Phone section, make sure the "use Country Code and Area Code" option is NOT checked.
10. Click the "Server Type" button.
11. The type of Dial-Up Server should be set to "PPP: Windows95, WindowsNT 3.5 Internet.
12. In the Advanced Options Section, make sure:
Log onto Network IS NOT checked
Enable Software Compression IS checked
Require Encrypted Password IS NOT checked
13. In the Allowed Network Protocols Section, make sure:
NetBUEI IS NOT checked
IPX/SPX IS NOTchecked
TCP/IP IS checked
14. Click on "TCP/IP Settings".
15. Make Sure "Server Assigned IP Address" is selected.
16. Make sure "Specify Name Server Addresses" is selected,
and enter in:
Primary DNS: 207.48.231.34
Secondary DNS: 204.70.57.24217. Make sure Primary and Secondary WINS
configuration are set to 0.0.0.0
18. "Use IP Header Compression" should be checked
19. "Use Default Gateway on Remote Network" should be checked

20. Click "OK" until you have returned to the "Dial-Up Networking" window.
| Optional: Create a shortcut to the Romanweb Dialer by dragging its Icon onto the desktop. When the computer warns you that you cannot move or copy the item, select "Yes" to create a shortcut. |
Final Step: Connecting!
1. Double click on the Romanweb Icon (or the shortcut you created).
2. Enter in your username and password.
3. Click "Connect" to log onto Romanweb!
